NI2014 - 12th International Congress of Nursing Informatics
NI 2014, the 12th International Congress on Nursing Informatics, will be held at the Taipei International Convention Center (very near to Taipei 101) on June 21-25, 2014. The call for submissions is now open - see http://wp.me/pvCUS-1IM and http://www.ni2014.org

We ask all IMIA Member Societies and other members, and nursing/informatics organisations to publicise this call and event. The NI Congress is held on behalf of the IMIA-NI SIG (Nursing Informatics Special Interest Group)

The theme of the conference is “eSmart + ” where “e” stands for eHealth, “S” implies simplicity, “m” represents mobility and meaningful use, “a” denotes advanced leadership, “r” indicates revolution, “t” means translational technologies, and “+” symbolizes People Leading uCare Safely. The acronym is also used to convey the idea of adopting smart technology to help health providers deliver higher quality care. The call for submissions is open, and will close 15 September 2013. Decisions will be notified by mid-December 2013. For detailed information, including precise dates for the Call, see the conference website at www.ni2014.org

Medinfo2013 - Proceedings Available Online, Open Access
Medinfo2013 is over. However, the conference proceedings are freely available online and in open access form through the IOS Press website. See http://ebooks.iospress.nl/volume/medinfo-2013-proceedings-of-the-14th-world-congress-on-medical-and-health-informatics (or http://bit.ly/171Qv58)

This model for Medinfo proceedings is new. The feedback so far has been very positive. We invite additional feedback on this new initiative for IMIA conference proceedings, to help improve things as we now quickly turn towards work on Medinfo2015.

Report from the IMIA General Assembly (GA) Meeting 2013
A short set of notes on key issues from the 2013 IMIA GA has been sent to all GA members. Without repeating all the items (some of which will appear in expanded form on the IMIA news site), highlights included:

Two new Member Societies were admitted to IMIA (bringing the total to 60):
