<DIV>Workshop overview <BR>The world faces increasing reliance on software-intensive systems to manage<BR>quality health care services, from scheduling, billing, and health care<BR>records to the control of life-critical devices and process-guided<BR>procedures. Unique challenges and risks arise with the development,<BR>evolution, and integration of health software. The goal of this fourth<BR>workshop is to continue the development of an interdisciplinary community to<BR>identify and address software engineering challenges in health care<BR>applications. </DIV>

<DIV><BR>Example Topics for Submission<BR>We solicit submissions in the following, non-exclusive areas:<BR>. Software engineering for clinical, home, and mobile healthcare systems<BR>(subsuming information and communication systems and devices)<BR>. Quality assurance techniques including testing, static/dynamic analyses,<BR>and formal methods in health care systems, processes, and medical devices<BR>. Security engineering aspects of health care systems<BR>. Middleware and interoperability infrastructure for integration of medical<BR>devices into overall healthcare systems<BR>. Requirements engineering for health care processes and systems (involving<BR>many different stakeholders)<BR>. Model-driven engineering for health care systems and system integration<BR>. Architectures and product line techniques for healthcare systems and<BR>system integration<BR>. Healthcare process definition, analysis, automation, and improvement<BR>. User interface issues in health care systems and processes<BR>. Certification and regulatory issues in medical device and health care<BR>system development</DIV>

<DIV><BR>Submissions <BR>With these themes as a starting point, the SEHC 2012 invites broad<BR>participation from people who are actively involved in research and<BR>development in any of the above or related areas. To accommodate for the<BR>participation of researchers involved in projects in different stages of<BR>maturity, we seek a variety of contributions,including </DIV>

<DIV>1. short papers (up to 4 pages long) -- short papers include contributions<BR>that may report initial research results that might not yet be mature enough<BR>for a full research paper or may be a position paper that presents forward<BR>looking ideas/concepts.<BR>2. tool descriptions (up to 4 pages long) -- tool papers report on tools<BR>that support one or more aspects of engineering health-related software<BR>systems.<BR>3. clinical case studies (up to 7 pages long) - clinical case studies report<BR>on case studies that involve applying and evaluating software engineering<BR>techniques in a clinical setting.<BR>4. research results papers (up to 7 pages long) -- research papers describe<BR>novel results related to one or more topics of the workshop</DIV>
